ShipitAPO® Membership FeesThere are two membership types - Basic and Premium.
Basic Membership offers an a la carte, pay as you go type of service. Our Basic Membership account has no registration fee or annual fee. When you register with ShipitAPO®, you automatically become a Basic Member unless you elect to become a Premium Member and select this registration option. Upgrading to Premium Membership is optional and can be done at any time from our Members Area.
Premium Membership offers a combination of reduced normal handling fee rates, discounted special handling fees and some optional services remain free. Also, included is $100.00 worth of insurance coverage on all packages at no additional charge. However, it is for PERSONAL USE only. Institutional, government, corporate or non-profit Members, using our service for non-personal use, are NOT ELIGIBLE for Premium Membership.
The annual Premium Membership fee is $60.00 and will be prorated from the day you enroll in it. Once you enroll as a Premium Member you cannot downgrade until the end of the current calendar year. You can of course, opt not to re-enroll. On January 1st of the new calendar year all re-enrolling Premium Members will be charged for the full year. On January 1st, when we attempt to renew Premium Membership accounts, if you have opted not to re-enroll as a Premium Member prior to January 1st your account will automatically revert to Basic membership, which is free. Successful Premium Membership enrollment begins when the Premium Membership account fee is paid in full. The Premium Membership fee is non-refundable. We may elect to close Premium Membership enrollment at any time.
Normal Handling FeeWhen ShipitAPO® processes a package for forwarding via the U.S. Postal Service, here is what we do: Upon delivery by the incoming shipping carrier, we sign for packages as required and inspect every one. Then we identify the "owner" of each package against our database. We weigh it, determine the amount of postage then affix postage to the package. We charge your credit card or debit your PayPal® funded ShipitAPO® account balance the total of postage plus any optional insurance fees and our ShipitAPO® handling fee. A new address label is created which contains the destination address on record in your account along with a USPS Delivery Confirmation number. We then affix this label to the package. We complete the appropriate Customs form and affix this form to the package as well. Once all of this is complete we update your account, send you an email notification and get your package into the hands of the U.S. Postal Service so they can deliver it. Below is a list of our handling fees:
Optional Service FeesFrom our Members Area, you can specify that a certain package (based on its incoming tracking number) be insured for a predetermind amount and/or sent to a predetermined address, such that this and only this pacakge are so acted upon when we process it for forwarding. These actions can be set up in the Manage Specific Package section of your account.
Special Handling FeesPackages that cannot be immediately processed for forwarding and mailed out are called problem packages and they result when the package cannot mailed due to size, weight or contents or when a Member cannot pay for our services for whatever reason when we attempt to process a package or chooses not to have a package forwarded to an APO/FPO address due to issues with a merchant, "buyer's remorse," etc. We experience time-consuming tasks associated with trying to get things sorted out with and for the Member who had such a package shipped to their ShipitAPO® address. Rather than implement across-the-board handling fee increases to offset our expenses associated with these specific problem packages, which would impact all of our Members, even those who never attempt to ship problem packages or who have payment problems, we have decided to charge the following fees when we receive a package that cannot be mailed due to merchant conflicts, mind changing about an order, lack of payment, size, weight or contents. You can avoid these fees and any associated delays in package forwarding by not having non-mailable packages sent to your ShipitAPO® address and being able to pay for our services when payment is due. Please review the other links in our Help Section for more information about U.S. Postal Service restrictions, including APO/FPO specific restrictions. Most problem packages, except those that are payment related, are assessed a $13.95 handling fee when we forward it on behalf of a Member. Packages resulting from a repack are assesed our normal handling fee based on weight, postage class or action. If we can catch a problem package upon delivery, we may refuse to accept it. If we end up with a problem package, we will update your ShipitAPO® account, notify you once by email and extend a 3-day storage grace period to allow you time to decide what you want done with the package. If we are required to store a package longer than 3 days you will be charged storage fees, except when storage results from our actions. Please note that all packages that cannot be mailed due to size, weight or contents can only be shipped to a stateside street address, not another APO/FPO address or a P.O. Box. We will not arrange for any kind of international shipping. Should you elect to have your problem package shipped internationally from one of our package processing centers, you will have to make all the arrangements yourself. But we will be happy to store your package until you can arrange for a shipping carrier to pick it up and would charge you accordingly. Should there be any international shipping carrier specific paperwork involved, applicable charges will be levied. Any item held or stored at any ShipitAPO location past a 45-day grace period, will be deemed or classified as Undeliverable and disposed of per our Terms of Use.
