How to integrate with ShipitAPO
ShipitAPO can help you with your APO/FPO/DPO shipments. ShipitAPO is the original creator of this service/business model after we kicked open the doors 13 years ago based upon our patented and other proprietary technologies.
The United States has more than 1.3MM personnel serving outside of the United States and it's territories. ShipitAPO provides these individuals and their families with the ability to buy products/services from any online store, including the ones that say they don't ship to APO/FPO addresses.
Shipping Policy Page
To open your business to APO/FPO/DPO customers, add the following text to your Shipping Policy page (you can now remove the "We do not ship to APO/FPO adddresses" from this page--you're going to be APO/FPO friendly after you're finished!):
APO/FPO/DPO ShipmentsCompany Name has partnered with a company called Military Mail Solutions, LLC that offers an APO/FPO/DPO forwarding service called ShipitAPO (www.shipitapo.com) to send shipments to our customers with APO/FPO/DPO addresses.
If you want to place an order with us and have it shipped to an APO/FPO address, please follow these instructions:
APO/FPO/DPO Shipping ChargePlease note that in addition to any shipping charges charged by Company Name, ShipitAPO has its own charge for getting your order to your APO/FPO/DPO address. These additional fees include a $8.00 handling fee, US Postal Service Priority Mail postage, and any optional insurance coverage you wish to use. Both the postage and insurance are charged at published U.S. Postal Service rates.
APO/FPO/DPO Insurance: (Highly Recommended)For APO/FPO Shipments, Company Name is not responsible for loss or damage to products during shipment. Therefore, we highly recommend that you insure each package for up to its full value ($5000 is the maximum). Insurance costs range from $16.70 for $1500.00 worth of coverage to $21.70 for $2000.00 worth of coverage.
APO/FPO/DPO Delivery Time FramePlease note that APO/FPO deliveries can take up to 6-8 weeks. Package tracking is not available. Please contact your local US Postal Service Postmaster for specific transit times for your APO/FPO/DPO address.
All (3) three additional states or state abbreviations to your credit card billing address data capture process and subsequent credit card charging processing. These states are:

|AP||Armed Forces Pacific|
Ship To Address (Error Checking)
Do NOT allow the above (3) states to be used in your "Ship To" process (they should now being using their newly acquired ShipitAPO address--which is just a stateside shipping address). Add some error checking tests to prevent people from "force fitting" an APO/FPO/DPO address zip code into your system (these addresses/zip codes typically cause issues with UPS, DHL, and FedEx). On error, you should again remind them to read your APO/FPO/DPO shipping reference on your shipping policy page, which tells them to visit ShipitAPO. The Zip Codes associated with the military states are:

That's all there is to it! You've now easily opened your doors to military men and women, increased your sales, and you haven't changed how you ship your merchandise to your customers.
Your customer becomes our customer when they register with ShipitAPO after following your new shipping policy page and then returning to your store to finish shopping. You ship their package to us. If you ship a package to your customer's new ShipitAPO address via UPS/FedEx you can track the package, require signatures, etc. Once the package is delivered, your worries are over since you have fulfilled your obligation to your customer
